Victory Ship
A "Victory Ship" is a type of cargo ship built during World War II to transport troops and supplies. Designed to replace the slower Liberty Ships, these vessels were faster and more efficient, helping to meet the urgent demands of the war. Approximately 531 Victory Ships were constructed between 1944 and 1945, featuring a length of about 455 feet and a capacity of around 10,500 deadweight tons.
After the war, many Victory Ships were repurposed for commercial use, serving in various roles such as cargo transport and even as floating hotels. Their robust design and versatility allowed them to remain in service for decades, contributing to post-war economic recovery and trade.
