Liberty Ship
A Liberty Ship is a type of cargo ship built during World War II to transport supplies and materials for the Allied forces. Designed for mass production, these ships were constructed quickly and efficiently, often in a matter of weeks. The Liberty Ship program aimed to meet the urgent demand for shipping capacity during the war.
These vessels were typically around 440 feet long and could carry about 10,000 tons of cargo. The design was simple, allowing for easy assembly and repair. Over 2,700 Liberty Ships were built, playing a crucial role in the success of the Allied forces during the conflict.
