Venezuelan Socialist Party
The Venezuelan Socialist Party, officially known as the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), is a political party founded in 2007. It emerged from the merger of several leftist parties and is closely associated with the policies of Hugo Chávez, who served as Venezuela's president from 1999 until his death in 2013. The party promotes socialist principles and aims to establish a socialist state in Venezuela.
The PSUV has been the ruling party in Venezuela since its inception, advocating for social programs, wealth redistribution, and nationalization of key industries. It has faced significant challenges, including economic crises and political opposition, particularly during the presidency of Nicolás Maduro, who succeeded Chávez.
