Venerable Bede
Venerable Bede, also known as Saint Bede, was an English monk and scholar born in 673 AD in Northumbria. He is best known for his work, *Ecclesiastical History of the English People*, which provides a detailed account of early British history and the spread of Christianity in England. Bede's writings were influential in shaping the understanding of the period and earned him the title of "Father of English History."
Bede was a member of the Benedictine monastery at Jarrow, where he spent most of his life studying and writing. He was also a skilled linguist, translating texts from Latin to Old English. Bede was canonized as a saint in 1899, and his feast day is celebrated on May 25.
