Vedic religion
Vedic religion is an ancient spiritual tradition that originated in the Indian subcontinent around 1500 BCE. It is based on the sacred texts known as the Vedas, which are a collection of hymns, rituals, and philosophical teachings. The religion emphasizes rituals, sacrifices, and the worship of various deities, including Indra, Agni, and Varuna.
The Vedic period laid the foundation for later Hinduism, influencing its beliefs and practices. Key concepts include dharma (duty), karma (action and its consequences), and the cycle of samsara (rebirth). Vedic religion also introduced the caste system, which organized society into different social groups.
