Vatican Obelisks
The Vatican Obelisks are ancient stone monuments originally erected in Egypt and later transported to Rome. There are thirteen obelisks in Rome, with four located in Vatican City. These towering structures were often inscribed with hieroglyphics and served as symbols of power and religious significance.
The most famous of these is the St. Peter's Basilica obelisk, which stands at 25.5 meters tall. It was brought to the Vatican in 1586 by Pope Sixtus V and is positioned in St. Peter's Square. The obelisks represent a blend of ancient Egyptian culture and Christian symbolism in the heart of the Catholic Church.
