V-J Day
V-J Day, or Victory over Japan Day, marks the day when Japan formally surrendered during World War II, effectively ending the conflict. This historic event occurred on September 2, 1945, when Japanese officials signed the surrender documents aboard the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay.
The announcement of Japan's surrender came on August 15, 1945, following the dropping of atomic bombs on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. V-J Day is celebrated in various countries, particularly in the United States, as a significant milestone in achieving peace after years of global warfare.
