Uterine Tumors
Uterine tumors are abnormal growths that occur in the uterus, the organ in a woman's body where a fetus develops during pregnancy. These tumors can be benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous). The most common type of benign tumor is called a uterine fibroid, which can cause symptoms like heavy menstrual bleeding and pelvic pain.
Malignant tumors of the uterus include endometrial cancer, which originates in the lining of the uterus. Risk factors for developing uterine tumors include obesity, hormonal imbalances, and a family history of cancer. Early detection and treatment are important for managing these conditions effectively.
