Urinary Tract Infections
A urinary tract infection (UTI) occurs when harmful bacteria enter the urinary system, which includes the bladder, urethra, and sometimes the kidneys. Symptoms often include a frequent urge to urinate, burning sensation during urination, and cloudy or strong-smelling urine. UTIs are more common in women due to their shorter urethra.
Treatment typically involves antibiotics to eliminate the infection. Drinking plenty of fluids can help flush out bacteria. Preventive measures include proper hygiene, urinating after sexual activity, and staying hydrated. If left untreated, UTIs can lead to more serious complications, such as kidney infections.
