Upper Centaurus Crux
Upper Centaurus Crux is a stellar association located in the southern sky, part of the larger constellation of Centaurus. It is known for containing several bright stars, including Alpha Centauri, which is the closest star system to Earth. This region is rich in young, hot stars and is situated approximately 600 light-years away from our planet.
The association is part of the Scorpius-Centaurus complex, one of the nearest regions of star formation. Upper Centaurus Crux is characterized by its relatively young age, with many of its stars being only a few million years old. This makes it an interesting area for astronomers studying stellar evolution and the dynamics of star clusters.
