Scorpius-Centaurus
Scorpius-Centaurus is a large star-forming region located in the southern sky, primarily within the constellations of Scorpius and Centaurus. It is one of the closest regions of massive star formation to Earth, situated about 500 light-years away. This area contains several young, hot stars and is rich in gas and dust, making it an important site for studying stellar evolution.
The region is home to several notable clusters, including the Upper Scorpius and Lower Centaurus Crux clusters. These clusters are composed of young stars that are still in the process of forming, providing valuable insights into the lifecycle of stars and the dynamics of stellar nurseries.
