Union Nationale
The Union Nationale was a political party in Quebec, Canada, founded in 1935. It emerged as a response to the growing demand for a distinct Quebec identity and aimed to unite various nationalist movements. The party was primarily conservative and focused on promoting traditional values, economic development, and provincial autonomy.
Under the leadership of Maurice Duplessis, the Union Nationale gained significant power, winning several elections and forming the government from 1936 to 1939 and again from 1944 to 1960. The party played a crucial role in shaping Quebec's political landscape until it declined in the 1960s, eventually merging into other political entities.
