Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic
The Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic (Ukrainian SSR) was a constituent republic of the Soviet Union from 1922 until 1991. It was established after the Russian Revolution and played a significant role in the Soviet economy and politics. The capital was Kyiv, and the republic was known for its rich agricultural land and industrial resources.
During its existence, the Ukrainian SSR experienced significant events, including the Holodomor, a devastating famine in the 1930s, and the impact of World War II. In 1991, following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Ukraine declared independence, marking the end of the Ukrainian SSR.
