USS Halsey Powell (DD-686)
The USS Halsey Powell (DD-686) was a Gearing-class destroyer of the United States Navy, commissioned in 1945. Named after Admiral William Halsey Jr., the ship served primarily in the Pacific Theater during World War II and later participated in various operations during the Cold War.
The destroyer was equipped with advanced weaponry for its time, including torpedoes and anti-aircraft guns. After serving for nearly three decades, the USS Halsey Powell was decommissioned in 1973 and eventually sold for scrap in 1974, marking the end of its naval service.
