USS Smith (DD-2)
The USS Smith (DD-2) was a destroyer in the United States Navy, launched on December 12, 1901. It was named after Rear Admiral William S. Smith, who served in the Civil War. The ship was part of the Benson class and played a role in early 20th-century naval operations.
Commissioned in 1903, the USS Smith served primarily in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. It participated in various training exercises and fleet maneuvers, contributing to the development of modern naval tactics. The ship was decommissioned in 1919 and later sold for scrap in 1923.
