USS Spence (DD-578)
The USS Spence (DD-578) was a Gearing-class destroyer of the United States Navy, commissioned in 1944. Designed for anti-submarine warfare and surface action, she played a significant role during World War II, participating in various operations in the Pacific Theater.
After the war, the USS Spence continued to serve in the Navy until she was decommissioned in 1970. The ship was named after Admiral William Spence, a notable naval officer. Ultimately, she was sold for scrap in 1974, marking the end of her service history.
