USS Shark (SS-174)
The USS Shark (SS-174) was a United States Navy submarine that served during World War II. Launched on 1 December 1938, it was the first submarine to be named after the shark. The vessel was designed for anti-submarine warfare and reconnaissance missions, contributing to the Navy's efforts in the Pacific Theater.
Throughout its service, the USS Shark completed several patrols and was involved in various engagements against enemy ships. Unfortunately, it was lost in action on 24 February 1942, becoming one of the many submarines that played a crucial role in naval warfare during the conflict.
