USS Puffer (SS-268) History
The USS Puffer (SS-268) was a Gato-class submarine of the United States Navy, commissioned on 15 December 1943. She served primarily in the Pacific Theater during World War II, conducting numerous patrols and engaging in various combat operations against enemy shipping and naval forces.
After the war, the USS Puffer continued to serve in the Cold War era, participating in training exercises and operations until her decommissioning on 15 January 1960. The submarine was ultimately sold for scrap in 1971, marking the end of her nearly two-decade-long service history.
