USS Providence (AOR-7)
The USS Providence (AOR-7) was a replenishment oiler of the United States Navy, launched on March 16, 1970. It was designed to provide fuel and supplies to naval ships at sea, enhancing their operational capabilities. The ship was named after the city of Providence, Rhode Island and served primarily during the Cold War era.
Commissioned on December 15, 1971, the USS Providence played a vital role in various naval operations, including humanitarian missions and fleet support. It was decommissioned on September 30, 1999, after nearly three decades of service, and was later scrapped in 2006.
