USS Pargo (SS-6)
The USS Pargo (SS-6) was a United States Navy submarine, part of the early fleet of submarines commissioned in the early 20th century. Launched in 1905, it was designed for coastal defense and reconnaissance missions. The submarine was named after the pargo, a type of fish, reflecting the Navy's tradition of naming submarines after aquatic life.
Pargo was a small vessel, measuring 85 feet in length and powered by a combination of electric and gasoline engines. It served primarily in the Atlantic Ocean and was decommissioned in 1919 after fulfilling its role during World War I. The submarine is notable for being one of the first in the U.S. Navy's submarine fleet.
