USS Pargo
The USS Pargo (SSN-650) was a nuclear-powered attack submarine of the United States Navy. Launched on March 9, 1968, it was designed for anti-submarine warfare, intelligence gathering, and special operations. The submarine was equipped with advanced sonar and torpedoes, making it a vital asset during the Cold War.
Commissioned on December 20, 1969, the USS Pargo served in various missions until it was decommissioned on September 30, 1994. It was named after the pargo, a type of fish, reflecting the Navy's tradition of naming submarines after marine life. The vessel was ultimately scrapped in 1999.
