USS Lawrence (DD-581)
USS Lawrence (DD-581) was a Gearing-class destroyer of the United States Navy, launched on 4 July 1944. She was named after Captain James Lawrence, a naval officer known for his famous last words, "Don't give up the ship!" The ship was commissioned on 15 December 1944 and served primarily in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
During her service, USS Lawrence participated in various operations, including the Battle of Okinawa. After the war, she continued to serve in the Navy until being decommissioned in 1970. The ship was ultimately sold for scrap in 1974.
