USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63)
The USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63) was a conventionally powered aircraft carrier of the United States Navy, commissioned in 1961. It was the last of the Kitty Hawk-class carriers and served for nearly 50 years, playing a significant role in various military operations, including the Vietnam War and the Gulf War. The ship was named after the location of the Wright brothers' first powered flight.
Throughout its service, the Kitty Hawk was home to numerous aircraft, including the F-14 Tomcat and F/A-18 Hornet. It was decommissioned in 2009 and later sold for scrapping. The carrier was notable for its long service life and contributions to naval aviation.
