USS Haverfield (DE-393) History
The USS Haverfield (DE-393) was a Buckley-class destroyer escort of the United States Navy, launched on 1 April 1944. It was named after Lieutenant Commander William Haverfield, who served in World War II. The ship was commissioned on 30 June 1944 and primarily operated in the Atlantic Theater during World War II, providing escort and anti-submarine warfare support.
After the war, the USS Haverfield was decommissioned on 15 June 1946 and placed in reserve. It was later reactivated during the Korean War and served until its final decommissioning on 1 July 1960. The ship was ultimately sold for scrap in 1973.
