USS Haverfield
The USS Haverfield (DE-393) was a U.S. Navy destroyer escort commissioned during World War II. Launched on 1 March 1944, it was named after Lieutenant Commander William Haverfield, who served in the U.S. Navy during World War I. The ship was designed to protect larger vessels from submarines and aircraft.
After its commissioning, the USS Haverfield served in the Pacific Theater, participating in various operations until the end of the war. The ship was decommissioned in 1946 and later sold for scrap in 1973. Its service contributed to the overall efforts of the U.S. Navy during a critical time in history.
