USS Cimarron
The USS Cimarron (AO-22) was a fleet oiler of the United States Navy, launched in 1939. Designed to supply fuel and other essential supplies to naval vessels at sea, she played a crucial role during World War II, supporting operations in the Pacific Theater. The ship was named after the Cimarron River, which flows through the states of New Mexico and Oklahoma.
Throughout her service, the USS Cimarron participated in numerous campaigns, including the Battle of Leyte Gulf. After the war, she continued to serve in various capacities until her decommissioning in 1970. The ship was eventually scrapped in 1977, marking the end of her long and distinguished career.
