USS Charles F. Adams (DDG-2) Class
The USS Charles F. Adams (DDG-2) Class is a series of guided missile destroyers built for the United States Navy during the 1960s. These ships were designed for anti-aircraft warfare and were equipped with advanced radar and missile systems, including the RIM-24 Tartar missile. The class was named after Charles Francis Adams, a prominent naval officer and politician.
A total of 7 ships were constructed in this class, serving primarily during the Cold War. The USS Charles F. Adams (DDG-2) was the lead ship, and the class was notable for its distinctive angled superstructure. These destroyers were decommissioned in the 1990s as newer classes of ships were introduced.
