USS Ajax (AR-6)
The USS Ajax (AR-6) was a repair ship of the United States Navy, launched on 1 March 1943. Designed to provide maintenance and repair services to naval vessels, she played a crucial role during World War II and beyond. The ship was equipped with facilities for hull repairs, electrical work, and machine shop operations, enabling her to support fleet operations effectively.
Commissioned on 15 September 1943, the USS Ajax served in various theaters, including the Pacific Theater during the war. After the conflict, she continued to support naval operations until her decommissioning in 1970. The ship was ultimately sold for scrapping in 1979.
