USS Aucilla (AO-56)
The USS Aucilla (AO-56) was a fleet oiler of the United States Navy, launched on 15 December 1943. Designed to supply fuel and other essential supplies to naval vessels at sea, she played a crucial role during World War II and the Korean War. The ship was named after the Aucilla River in Florida.
Commissioned on 30 June 1944, the USS Aucilla served in various operations, providing logistical support to the fleet. After her decommissioning in 1970, she was transferred to the Military Sealift Command and continued to serve until her final retirement in 1995.
