US Airways Flight 1549
On January 15, 2009, US Airways Flight 1549 experienced a dual engine failure shortly after takeoff from LaGuardia Airport in New York City. The aircraft, an Airbus A320, struck a flock of Canada geese, leading to the loss of power in both engines.
Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger and First Officer Jeff Skiles quickly assessed the situation and decided to ditch the plane in the Hudson River. All 155 passengers and crew members were safely rescued, and the incident became known as the "Miracle on the Hudson" due to the successful emergency landing.
