UN Protection Force
The UN Protection Force (UNPROFOR) was established in 1992 by the United Nations to provide peacekeeping support during the conflicts in the former Yugoslavia. Its primary mission was to protect civilians, ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid, and maintain peace in the region amid ongoing violence.
UNPROFOR operated in various areas, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Macedonia. The force faced numerous challenges, including limited resources and complex political situations, which often hindered its effectiveness. Ultimately, UNPROFOR was replaced by more robust missions as the conflicts evolved and peace agreements were reached.
