UMNO
UMNO, or the United Malays National Organization, is a major political party in Malaysia. Founded in 1946, it primarily represents the interests of the Malay community and has played a significant role in the country's politics since its independence in 1957. UMNO is a key member of the Barisan Nasional coalition, which has historically dominated Malaysian elections.
The party's main objectives include promoting the rights and welfare of the Malay people, as well as fostering national unity. Over the years, UMNO has faced various challenges, including internal divisions and competition from other political parties, particularly during the 2018 general elections when it lost power for the first time in over six decades.
