Two-Prong Outlets
Two-prong outlets are electrical sockets that have two vertical slots for plugs. They are commonly found in older homes and are designed to accommodate devices that do not require a ground connection. These outlets are typically rated for 120 volts and are used for low-power appliances and electronics.
Unlike three-prong outlets, which include a third round hole for grounding, two-prong outlets are simpler and less safe for high-power devices. Many modern appliances now require three-prong outlets for safety reasons, leading to the gradual replacement of two-prong outlets in newer constructions and renovations.
