Tunica Language
The Tunica language is a Native American language that was historically spoken by the Tunica people in the southeastern United States, particularly in Louisiana. It is part of the Tunica–Biloxi language family and is considered a language isolate, meaning it has no known relatives. The language experienced a decline in speakers during the 20th century but has seen revitalization efforts in recent years.
Today, the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe is actively working to preserve and teach the language through educational programs and resources. Language classes and materials have been developed to help new generations learn Tunica, ensuring that this unique cultural heritage is not lost.
