Tumbuka people
The Tumbuka people are an ethnic group primarily found in the northern region of Malawi, particularly in the Mzimba and Rumphi districts. They speak the Tumbuka language, which is part of the larger Bantu language family. The Tumbuka are known for their rich cultural traditions, including music, dance, and storytelling.
Traditionally, the Tumbuka people engage in agriculture, growing crops such as maize, millet, and cassava. They also practice fishing and livestock rearing. The community is organized around clans, and social structures are often influenced by their customs and beliefs, which include elements of both traditional spirituality and Christianity.
