Tule Lake National Monument
Tule Lake National Monument is located in northern California and is part of the larger Tule Lake area. It was established to preserve the history and significance of the Tule Lake Segregation Center, which was one of ten Japanese American internment camps during World War II. The site serves as a reminder of the injustices faced by Japanese Americans during this period.
The monument encompasses approximately 1,600 acres and includes remnants of the internment camp, such as barracks and guard towers. Visitors can explore the area to learn about the experiences of the internees and reflect on the importance of civil rights and social justice.
