Tule Lake Segregation Center
The Tule Lake Segregation Center was a Japanese American internment camp during World War II, located in California. Established in 1942, it was initially a relocation center for Japanese Americans but later became a segregation center for those deemed "disloyal" or who resisted the U.S. government's policies.
The center housed around 18,000 internees at its peak and was known for its strict security and harsh conditions. It played a significant role in the broader context of the internment of Japanese Americans, which has been widely criticized for violating civil liberties during the war.
