Trident ballistic missiles
Trident ballistic missiles are a type of submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) used by the United States and the United Kingdom. They are designed to deliver nuclear warheads over long distances, providing a key component of the nuclear deterrent strategy. The missiles are launched from nuclear submarines, allowing them to remain hidden underwater until deployment.
The Trident system includes two main variants: Trident I (C4) and Trident II (D5). The Trident II is the more advanced version, capable of carrying multiple independently targetable reentry vehicles (MIRVs). This allows a single missile to strike several targets, enhancing its effectiveness in strategic military planning.
