Tredegar Iron Works
Tredegar Iron Works was a prominent iron manufacturing facility located in Richmond, Virginia. Established in 1837, it became one of the largest producers of iron and artillery during the American Civil War. The works played a crucial role in supplying the Confederate Army with weapons and other military materials.
After the war, Tredegar transitioned to producing a variety of iron products, including railroad equipment and structural iron. The site is now home to the Tredegar Iron Works National Historic Landmark, which preserves its history and significance in American industrial development.
