Treaty of Sugauli
The Treaty of Sugauli was signed on December 2, 1815, and ratified on March 4, 1816, between the British East India Company and the Kingdom of Nepal. This treaty marked the end of the Anglo-Nepalese War (1814-1816) and established the boundaries between British India and Nepal.
Under the terms of the treaty, Nepal ceded significant territories, including parts of Sikkim, Darjeeling, and Kumaon. The treaty also recognized the sovereignty of Nepal while limiting its military capabilities and establishing diplomatic relations with the British.
