Trappist Order
The Trappist Order, officially known as the Order of Cistercians of the Strict Observance, is a Roman Catholic monastic community founded in 1664. It emphasizes a life of prayer, work, and community living, following the Rule of Saint Benedict. Trappists are known for their commitment to silence, contemplation, and simplicity.
Trappist monks and nuns live in monasteries, where they engage in various forms of labor, including agriculture and brewing. Many Trappist communities produce goods, such as Trappist beer and cheese, which are often sold to support their monastic life and charitable works.
