Tower of the Winds
The Tower of the Winds is an ancient clocktower located in Athens, Greece. Built in the 1st century BC, it served as a water clock and a weather vane. The structure is made of Pentelic marble and features a circular design, standing about 12 meters tall. Its exterior is adorned with reliefs representing the eight wind deities of Greek mythology.
Inside, the tower housed a water clock that measured time based on the flow of water. The Tower of the Winds was also used as a public sundial, helping citizens keep track of time and weather conditions. Today, it remains an important archaeological site and a symbol of ancient engineering.
