Tom Bawcock
Tom Bawcock is a legendary figure from the fishing village of Mousehole in Cornwall, England. He is celebrated for his bravery during a severe storm that threatened the village's food supply. When the fishermen were unable to go out to sea, Tom took it upon himself to venture out and catch enough fish to feed the villagers.
His successful return with a bountiful catch is commemorated every year during the Tom Bawcock's Eve festival, held on December 23rd. The event features a special dish called Starry Gazey Pie, made with fish and topped with pastry, symbolizing Tom's heroic efforts and the community's resilience.
