Tohoku
Tohoku is a region located in the northeastern part of Honshu, the main island of Japan. It consists of six prefectures: Aomori, Iwate, Miyagi, Akita, Yamagata, and Fukushima. Tohoku is known for its beautiful natural landscapes, including mountains, lakes, and hot springs, as well as its rich cultural heritage.
The region experiences heavy snowfall in winter, making it a popular destination for winter sports. Tohoku is also famous for its traditional festivals, such as the Nebuta Matsuri in Aomori and the Tanabata Matsuri in Sendai. Additionally, Tohoku is recognized for its delicious local cuisine, including gyutan (grilled beef tongue) and kiritanpo (rice stick).
