Tlicho people
The Tlicho people are an Indigenous group located in the Northwest Territories of Canada. They primarily inhabit the Tlicho region, which includes communities like Behchokǫ̀, Whatì, Gamètì, and Wekweètì. The Tlicho have a rich cultural heritage, with a strong connection to the land and traditional practices, including hunting, fishing, and gathering.
The Tlicho language, known as Tlicho Yati, is an essential part of their identity and is spoken alongside English and French. The Tlicho people have a self-government agreement, which allows them to manage their affairs and preserve their culture and traditions in a modern context.
