Tlicho
The Tlicho are an Indigenous people located in the Northwest Territories of Canada. They primarily inhabit the Tlicho Region, which includes communities like Behchokǫ̀, Whatì, Gamètì, and Wekweètì. The Tlicho have a rich cultural heritage, including their own language, Tlicho Yati, and traditional practices that reflect their connection to the land.
The Tlicho Government, established in 2005, represents the interests of the Tlicho people and manages local resources. The Tlicho Land Claim Agreement, signed in 2005, grants them rights to land and resources, promoting self-governance and economic development while preserving their cultural identity.
