Tiwu Ata Polo
Tiwu Ata Polo is a crater lake located on the island of Flores in Indonesia. It is one of the three lakes in the Kelimutu volcanic complex, known for its unique color changes, which can range from blue to green to black. The lake is situated at an elevation of about 1,690 meters and is surrounded by lush vegetation and stunning landscapes.
The name "Tiwu Ata Polo" translates to "Lake of the Evil Spirits" in the local Tetum language. It is believed to be a sacred site by the local Ngada people, who hold various cultural beliefs and rituals associated with the lake. The changing colors of the lake are often attributed to natural phenomena, but they also hold significant cultural meaning for the community.
