Titan Arum
The Titan Arum, also known as the corpse flower, is a large flowering plant native to the rainforests of Sumatra, Indonesia. It is famous for its enormous size, reaching up to 10 feet tall, and its foul odor, which resembles that of rotting flesh. This smell attracts pollinators like carrion beetles and flies, which are drawn to decaying organic matter.
The Titan Arum blooms infrequently, typically every few years, and the flowering period lasts only 24 to 48 hours. During this time, the plant generates heat to help disperse its scent, enhancing its ability to attract pollinators. After blooming, it produces a large cluster of berries that can take several months to mature.
