Timucua
The Timucua were a group of Native American tribes that lived in what is now northern Florida and southern Georgia. They spoke the Timucua language, which is now extinct, and were known for their complex social structures and agricultural practices. The Timucua primarily relied on farming, hunting, and fishing for their sustenance.
European contact began in the 16th century, leading to significant changes in their way of life. The arrival of Spanish explorers brought diseases and conflicts that greatly reduced the Timucua population. By the 18th century, the Timucua culture had largely disappeared, and their descendants were assimilated into other communities.
