Timed Up and Go Test
The Timed Up and Go Test (TUG) is a simple assessment used to evaluate a person's mobility and balance. During the test, an individual is asked to rise from a chair, walk a short distance (usually three meters), turn around, walk back to the chair, and sit down again. The time taken to complete this task is recorded.
This test is commonly used in clinical settings, especially for older adults, to identify those at risk of falls. A longer completion time may indicate potential mobility issues, prompting further evaluation or intervention to improve safety and independence.
